Bodycare has officially announced the closure of its remaining 56 stores by this Saturday, resulting in 444 job losses. The beauty chain recently went into administration, leading to a series of store shutdowns. Initially, 32 stores were closed immediately, followed by another 30 stores confirmed for permanent closure shortly after.
Despite efforts by advisors at Interpath, no buyer has been found for Bodycare’s stores. Nick Holloway, the managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, expressed gratitude to the dedicated staff for maintaining the brand’s high standards during this challenging period. The company will continue to explore options for its assets, including the Bodycare brand.
Established in 1970 by Graham and Margaret Blackledge, Bodycare has been under the ownership of Baaj Capital since 2021. The store offers products from popular beauty brands like L’Oreal, Nivea, and Elizabeth Arden. This closure adds to the growing list of casualties on the high street, with Poundland recently being sold to Gordon Brothers for £1 and Claire’s undergoing administration in the UK and Ireland.
Poundland has put 11 store closures on hold but still expects to reduce its total number of stores to around 650-700 as leases expire. The chain originally had 800 branches at the start of its restructuring process. Claire’s, on the other hand, is in talks with potential buyers to secure its future in British high streets.
The Bodycare stores set for closure by Saturday are listed below, along with those that have already shut down.
