Asda has introduced a new pricing commitment, offering lower prices on over 2,300 daily essentials compared to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons’ loyalty card rates. The reduced prices cover a wide range of products, including fresh meat, produce, chilled items, core groceries, and bakery goods.
In addition to the pricing adjustments, Asda is running a promotion in January where shoppers will receive 10% cashback in their Asda Rewards Cashpot for all fresh produce purchases made in-store.
Rachel Eyre, Chief Customer Officer at Asda, emphasized the company’s effort to support families post-Christmas by providing the best value on frequently purchased products. The Asda Price promise ensures transparent and consistent pricing accessible to all customers without the need for loyalty cards.
Following a challenging Christmas season, Asda faced a decline in market share to 11.4% in the 12 weeks ending December 28. The supermarket experienced a 4.2% drop in sales, marking its 22nd consecutive month of decline, while rivals Tesco and Sainsbury’s expanded their customer base during the same period.
This week, Tesco unveiled its commitment to maintaining the affordability of 3,000 branded products as part of its new Everyday Low Prices initiative.
