“Arizona Helicopter Crash Claims Man and Nieces Before Wedding”

National"Arizona Helicopter Crash Claims Man and Nieces Before Wedding"

A tragic helicopter crash in Arizona claimed the lives of a man and his three nieces just before his wedding ceremony. The pilot, David McCarty, 59, was taking Rachel McCarty, 22, Faith McCarty, 21, and Katelyn Heideman, also 21, for a ride in a private aircraft as a pre-wedding celebration with his fiancée, Joelleen Linstrom.

The fatal accident occurred on January 2 when the helicopter hit a slackline in a remote area about 64 miles east of Phoenix, in Telegraph Canyon. Eyewitnesses reported that the helicopter struck the line before crashing to the ground.

Emergency responders faced challenges reaching the crash site due to the rugged terrain, arriving nearly six hours later. The victims were confirmed dead later that day.

The helicopter had departed from an airport in Queen Creek, where McCarty resided. The FAA imposed flight restrictions in the area during recovery and investigative efforts. McCarty, a seasoned aviation professional, founded Columbia Basin Helicopters in 1997 and was well-regarded for his piloting skills and dedication to his family.

Family members expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting the bright futures of the young women and the irreplaceable bond shared within the family. The tragic incident left loved ones grappling with grief and receiving an outpouring of support and prayers from the community.

The family requested privacy and continued prayers as they come to terms with the devastating loss and find solace in knowing their departed loved ones are together in heaven.
