“Allied Pharmacies Saves 60 Jhoots Branches”

Business"Allied Pharmacies Saves 60 Jhoots Branches"

A popular pharmacy chain on the high street has stepped in to rescue 60 branches of a competing firm facing financial difficulties.

Allied Pharmacies has officially taken control of 60 Jhoots Pharmacies locations, most of which are currently not operational. However, Allied has assured the public of its commitment to restoring essential pharmacy services at these sites.

Following this acquisition, Allied’s network of branches in England and Wales will expand to approximately 210, as reported by C+D.

In a statement, Allied emphasized the crucial role community pharmacies play in promoting public health and well-being. The company acknowledged the challenges posed by the closures, especially for vulnerable individuals reliant on local healthcare services, and pledged to swiftly reinstate pharmaceutical services at the affected branches.

Recent discussions in Parliament highlighted concerns over Jhoots Pharmacies closing down, potentially leaving communities without vital health services. Reports also indicated staff facing financial difficulties due to delayed payments.

The ownership of these pharmacies is divided between brothers Manjit and Sarbjit Jhooty, with approximately 150 Jhoots Pharmacies operating in the UK. Manjit Jhooty’s companies, Pasab and Jhoots Healthcare, manage over 20 branches and have denied any operational issues. Sarbjit Jhooty, on the other hand, is reportedly the owner of the remaining 129 locations.

In response to queries, a spokesperson for Manjit Jhooty confirmed the financial stability and continued operation of the pharmacies under his management. Sarbjit Jhooty acknowledged workforce and recruitment challenges and assured efforts were underway to address these issues.
