Australian cricket legend Glenn McGrath has been removed as a commentator by host broadcaster ABC due to his affiliation with a betting company. Known as one of the greatest fast bowlers in history, McGrath has been a prominent figure during the Ashes series in recent times.
Having claimed 563 wickets in 124 Test matches for Australia, the 55-year-old was a formidable force against England in the Ashes series, securing six victories with his team. Despite his absence from ABC’s commentary team, McGrath will still be part of the BBC Test Match Special lineup.
ABC confirmed the decision to part ways with McGrath for the Ashes series, citing his forthcoming collaboration with the betting company Bet365. This move aligns with their previous decision to drop former Australian cricketer Mitchell Johnson for a similar reason.
Expressing his confidence in the Australian team, McGrath predicts a 5-0 series win against England. With a formidable bowling lineup including Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon, McGrath believes the home advantage will pose a significant challenge for the English side.
