A teenager is in critical condition after a shark attack at a famous beach in Sydney, Australia. The incident occurred when the boy, believed to be around 13 years old, was jumping off rocks at Shark Beach in Sydney Harbour on Sunday afternoon.
According to New South Wales Police, emergency services responded to reports of the shark attack at Hermitage Foreshore Walk, Steele Point Road, Vaucluse. The boy was quickly rescued from the water by officers from the Marine Area Command and Eastern Suburbs Police.
The Water Police provided immediate first aid to the teenager, who sustained serious leg injuries. He was then transported to Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick in critical condition. Despite the rarity of shark attacks in the area, the beach has been closed as a precaution, and swimmers are advised to avoid the water.
Shark Beach, located in the affluent suburb of Vaucluse, is known for its netted swimming area and open water. Multiple resources, including intensive care paramedics and aeromedical teams, were involved in the emergency response to the incident.
