Dennis Taylor has shared a heartfelt tribute to the late snooker icon John Virgo. Virgo, a prominent figure in snooker, passed away at the age of 79 earlier this month.

Known for his success as a player, winning the 1979 UK Championship, Virgo later transitioned into a broadcasting career. He was a beloved fixture in BBC’s snooker coverage and gained popularity for his involvement in the popular show Big Break.

Taylor, a fellow snooker legend, worked closely with Virgo on various projects, including providing commentary during memorable moments in snooker history, such as Ronnie O’Sullivan’s record-breaking performance at the 1997 World Snooker Championship.

Virgo, a prominent voice in snooker for nearly four decades, tragically passed away on February 4 in Spain due to a ruptured aorta. Taylor paid his respects to his dear friend during the BBC’s coverage of the Welsh Open.

Reflecting on their long friendship, Taylor praised Virgo’s showmanship, commentary skills, and entertainment value.
