A tragic incident occurred at Wet’n Wild water park in Itupeva, Brazil, leading to the death of a 24-year-old lifeguard, Guilherme da Guerra Domingos. Guilherme lost his life while attempting to retrieve a tourist’s ring from a pool named Water Bomb. He was pulled into the pool’s drainage system and drowned.
Upon realizing Guilherme was missing, his colleagues sprang into action, entering the pool to rescue him. Despite their efforts and the subsequent arrival of emergency medical teams, Guilherme was pronounced dead at Nossa Senhora Aparecida Municipal Hospital.
Wet’n Wild confirmed that Guilherme had been an integral part of their team for over two years, having been promoted to a sector leader position in October the previous year. The company clarified that the Water Bomb attraction did not have a bottom drain, with the hydraulic system utilizing side drains positioned away from the water slide exit and visitor areas.
Authorities stated that the park was in compliance with all necessary regulations and documentation. Wet’n Wild announced the temporary closure of the park through a social media post and expressed their support for Guilherme’s family as investigations into the incident continue.
Following his passing, Guilherme’s body was taken to the Forensic Medical Institute in Jundiaí before being laid to rest in Bragança Paulista.
