BT Broadband customers in the UK are in for a pleasant surprise as BT Mobile is set to make a comeback to the market. Following a hiatus in 2023, BT Mobile will once again be available to existing broadband customers, offering BT-branded SIM deals.

The decision marks a significant shift in strategy for BT, which had been prioritizing its EE network brand. While specific details are yet to be disclosed, the reintroduction of BT Mobile indicates the company’s efforts to enhance the visibility of its established brand, especially after the spotlight had been on EE as the primary consumer focus in recent years.

Under the leadership of CEO Allison Kirkby, who assumed the role in 2024, BT aims to reestablish its presence among UK households and prevent the brand from fading into obscurity. Kirkby emphasized the importance of investing in brands, products, and services during an event at Wembley.

This relaunch will position BT in direct competition with major players such as Vodafone and O2, as well as budget-friendly networks like Giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, and SMARTY. BT plans to offer bundled services including broadband, landline, and mobile SIMs in a single package with a consolidated monthly bill.

Industry analyst Paolo Pescatore views this move as a strategic attempt by BT to stay relevant in a fiercely competitive telecom market. He highlighted the importance of execution in proving the network’s capability to meet real-world demands at scale for long-term success.

In addition, BT announced its partnership as the official telecoms provider for the UEFA Euro 2028 tournament, enhancing its brand visibility and engagement with users, households, and businesses. Pescatore emphasized the significance of using sports events like UEFA Euro 2028 to showcase scale, relevance, and delivery, as they have the unique ability to bring people together and create emotional connections on a large scale.
