Sky subscribers who enjoy movie marathons are in for a change as the television provider announces a merger of two of its movie channels. Sky Cinema Animation, previously on channel 312, will combine with Sky Cinema Family on April 30, consolidating family-friendly films onto channel 304.
The move aims to streamline the service, offering a single destination for popular titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. While this means one less channel, Sky assures viewers that all content from Sky Cinema Animation will still be accessible through Sky Cinema Family.
Despite the removal of the standalone channel, Sky Cinema Animation will make temporary comebacks during school holidays to entertain kids. Scheduled periods for its return are July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.
In addition to this channel update, Sky has ventured into the home security market with the introduction of new smart devices. Customers can opt for a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee, offering features like HD video recording, mobile alerts, and cloud storage.
For those seeking advanced options, Sky presents a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ at £8 monthly and a £20 upfront charge. This package includes an indoor camera and enhanced app controls for added security.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasizes the company’s commitment to providing accessible premium smart technology that is user-friendly, affordable, and tailored to customer preferences.
