“Google Pixel Phones Plagued by Battery Drain Bug”

Tech"Google Pixel Phones Plagued by Battery Drain Bug"

A concerning issue has surfaced on certain Android devices, where users are experiencing rapid battery drain even when their phones are idle. This problem seems to have emerged following a recent software update. Numerous Android users have taken to online forums to express their frustrations, with one individual mentioning the need to recharge their phone three times a day to maintain screen brightness.

Which users are impacted by this issue and what steps are being taken?

It appears that Google’s Pixel phone lineup is facing this battery drain bug, and the tech giant has acknowledged the problem and is working on a solution.

The affected devices include the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 7A.

According to insights from 9to5Google, the battery drain issue is believed to be linked to excessive CPU wakeups, causing the phone to run continuously in the background even when not in active use.

Several users have expressed their frustrations with this issue. For instance, a user named Phil shared, “Both my phone and my wife’s Pixel 7A have been experiencing this problem since mid-March. The phones unexpectedly drop from 20% to 0%, charge slowly, and lose battery even when turned off.”

Another Pixel owner, Fz, added, “My Pixel 9 Pro XL started draining battery excessively after the March update. I now have to charge my phone three times a day since then. The battery depletes overnight even when fully charged before sleep. It’s extremely frustrating.”

However, not all Pixel users are encountering this issue, as confirmed by a user named Warren who stated, “No battery drain issues with my Pixel 9 Pro. It was fully charged at 6:30 am and remains at 79% by 3:20 pm.”

Google is expected to investigate and address this issue promptly with an update. We will provide updates as soon as new information becomes available.
