Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK, offering internet-connected cameras with full cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This competitive pricing aims to provide savings of over £100 compared to purchasing a Ring system via Amazon.
The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, along with a £15 upfront fee. It features full HD video recording, instant phone alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way communication, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and enhanced app functionalities like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the goal of making top-notch smart technology more accessible to customers. The user-friendly features aim to simplify home connectivity and affordability.
These new plans mark a shift for Sky, expanding beyond their previous Protect Smart Home Insurance offerings to standalone smart home products. In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime at £119.99, with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
