“UKTV’s Free-to-Air Channels Coming to Samsung TVs”

Tech"UKTV's Free-to-Air Channels Coming to Samsung TVs"

Samsung TV owners in the UK are in for an exciting upgrade as UKTV announces the arrival of its popular free-to-air channels on Samsung screens. This update will allow viewers to access a variety of bonus content directly on their Samsung TVs without the need for additional devices.

The channels will be delivered over the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial setup. Samsung will also introduce a dedicated section on its home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, making it easier for viewers to discover and watch classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows without navigating through menus.

In the upcoming months, channels such as U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&Yesterday, U&W, and U&Eden will be accessible through a direct link from Samsung’s Universal Guide to the U app. This rollout will extend to millions of Samsung TVs, with the channels featured in the platform’s ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide, ensuring easy access to UKTV’s live and on-demand content for internet-based TV users.

Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed enthusiasm about the strengthened partnership with Samsung. He highlighted the increased accessibility of the U app to Samsung customers and the enhanced visibility of UKTV’s diverse content across various viewing platforms.

Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, emphasized the significant role UKTV plays in enriching the entertainment offerings on Samsung TVs. He stated that the collaboration aims to enhance the entertainment experience by providing access to a wide range of broadcast content through UKTV.

As a leading TV brand for two decades, Samsung remains committed to innovation that enhances the viewing experience. The partnership with UKTV underscores Samsung’s dedication to offering a comprehensive entertainment ecosystem by integrating UKTV’s content with services like Samsung TV Plus and built-in broadcast app access.

Although an official launch date has not been announced, the new features are expected to roll out on Samsung TVs soon, offering viewers an enhanced entertainment experience.
