LEGO Racing Team to Break Barriers in F1 Academy Partnership

SportsLEGO Racing Team to Break Barriers in F1 Academy Partnership

LEGO is venturing into motorsport with a unique approach, as revealed during the Las Vegas Grand Prix where they announced a partnership with F1 Academy to sponsor their own racing team. The LEGO Racing team, set to debut next year in an all-female series, is supported by Formula 1 and aims to promote awareness and excitement rather than just focusing on winning races.

LEGO’s chief product and marketing officer, Julia Goldin, emphasized that their primary goal is to raise awareness and build excitement through this initiative. While hoping for success on the track, the main aim is to support the overall mission of the F1 Academy. The partnership with LEGO signifies a significant moment for F1 Academy, helping boost its credibility and exposure.

The collaboration between LEGO and motorsport goes beyond mere sponsorship, as LEGO will also release buildable versions of the F1 Academy car as part of their Speed Champions range. By combining miniature car models with real racing events, they aim to attract young girls to the world of motorsport.

Esmee Kosterman, the Dutch racer set to drive for LEGO Racing, acknowledges the pressure to perform but is determined to aim for podium finishes. The team’s car will bear the number 32, reflecting LEGO’s founding year. Kosterman’s ambitions align more with achieving success on the track, emphasizing her competitive spirit and desire to excel in the sport.

LEGO’s involvement in motorsport serves a larger purpose of inspiring young girls to pursue racing, showcasing that the sport is inclusive and accessible to all. The integration of toy cars and real racing events opens up a world of possibilities for aspiring female racers.
