“Keir Starmer Commits to Meeting Radiation Victims”

Politics"Keir Starmer Commits to Meeting Radiation Victims"

Keir Starmer has committed to meeting with victims of Britain’s radiation experiments after a 435-day delay in response to their request. The Prime Minister assured this during a confrontation with a BBC reporter, affirming his commitment to the nuclear veterans’ cause by stating, “your campaign is our campaign.”

Acknowledging the injustice suffered by the victims, Starmer expressed willingness to meet them, aiming for a meeting by the end of the year. The campaigners sought discussions on addressing the Nuked Blood Scandal, which came to light after evidence of human radiation experiments on troops was uncovered by the Mirror.

During Cold War weapons tests, blood and urine samples were collected from individuals, and crucial data was omitted from medical records. For decades, officials, ministers, and legal representatives denied the existence of such programs, even in court and parliamentary settings.

Thames Valley Police is currently conducting a significant review of potential misconduct in public office related to these allegations. The Mirror initially informed Mr. Starmer of the scandal in September 2023, leading to ongoing communication with his Downing Street team.

Despite previous attempts by the campaign group LABRATS to secure a meeting with Starmer post-election, they had received no response until now. A viral video highlighting Labour ministers’ promises of compensation has garnered nearly 9 million views, adding pressure on the government to address the issue.

Starmer, unaware of the veterans’ request for a meeting, pledged to follow up on it promptly. Operation Grapple veteran John Morris, who has faced health issues linked to radiation exposure, expressed hope in Starmer’s sincerity to engage with them and criticized the Establishment for potential hindrances in communication.

LABRATS founder Alan Owen proposed a one-year special tribunal as a viable solution, emphasizing the urgency due to the advancing age of the veterans. The group is prepared to engage with the necessary parties to address the matter efficiently.
