An Iranian student was fatally shot in the head and buried near a road after participating in anti-regime protests in Tehran. Rubina Aminian, a 23-year-old student at Shariati College, was reported missing after the demonstrations. Her lifeless body was discovered buried along a deserted roadside following the unrest.
Iran Human Rights revealed that Aminian was targeted at close range in the back of her head. When her parents journeyed from Kermanshah to Tehran to identify her remains, they encountered numerous other young individuals who had suffered similar fates, as documented by the organization.
The death toll from the nationwide protests in Iran surged to over 538 individuals, with more than 10,600 individuals detained, as reported by the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency. Among the casualties, 490 were protesters, and 48 were security personnel, with expectations of the toll rising further. The ongoing demonstrations have been challenging to monitor due to internet restrictions and disrupted communication lines within Iran.
Despite the lack of official casualty figures from the Iranian government, threats from U.S. President Donald Trump against the regime for violent actions have yet to materialize. Iran’s parliament speaker cautioned that the U.S. military and Israel would be deemed “legitimate targets” if the U.S. proceeds with military action in response to the unrest.
As the protests persist in Iran, concerns mount over the rising death toll and the potential for a harsh crackdown by security forces. President Trump expressed solidarity with the demonstrators, indicating U.S. readiness to assist in their pursuit of freedom. Reports suggest that military options for a strike on Iran have been presented to Trump, but a final decision has not been reached.
