Met Office alerts for snow and ice are still in effect across various regions, with a rare amber warning in place for northern Scotland. An additional six inches of snow is expected in this area. The forecast indicates three distinct weather scenarios from Thursday to Friday, with significant snowfall anticipated.
Storm Goretti, named by Meteo France, is expected to bring snow and strong winds starting Thursday. England and Wales may experience up to eight inches of additional snowfall. The first scenario has a 50% likelihood of snow in Wales, northern England, the Midlands, and East Anglia, accompanied by strong winds along the south coast. Coastal regions of England may also see heavy rain.
The second scenario, with a 30% probability, predicts disruptive snow mainly in southern England, along with disruptive rain in the south. The rest of the UK is likely to avoid severe weather disturbances. The least probable scenario (20% chance) forecasts major snowfall in Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, northern England, the Midlands, and Wales. Disruptive wind is expected in Wales and southern England, with a risk of heavy rain in the north.
