National"Multiple Arrests Made in Disturbing Animal Cruelty Cases"

Three individuals have been taken into custody following the disturbing discovery of 29 deceased dogs in a backyard, with an additional 24 dogs found inside a residence in poor condition. The arrests of Curtis Dewayne Haralson, Patricia Ann Sims, and Tiffany Ann Sims were made after authorities responded to a neighbor’s tip regarding animal welfare concerns. The surviving dogs were removed from the property.

According to law enforcement, the deceased dogs were found in plastic bags piled in the backyard, ranging from puppies to adult canines. Inside the residence, 24 emaciated dogs were discovered, varying in age from puppies to adults. While no charges have been filed yet, the sheriff’s office indicated that felony charges are likely for all three individuals involved.

In a separate incident in Alabama, Marchelle Pertilla, 43, and Eugene Medrano, 52, were arrested for alleged child neglect and animal cruelty after their 14-year-old daughter was found living in unsanitary conditions with several dogs, one of which was deceased. Pertilla faces multiple counts of dog cruelty, while Medrano is charged with similar counts, as reported by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities found the living environment of the young girl to be deplorable, with filth and a deceased dog in a closet. The trailer was described as covered in waste, insects, and debris. The investigation revealed that the couple had left the girl alone in Alabama while they resided in Florida. The parents claimed the girl preferred to stay with her service animals.

Further inquiries are ongoing to determine why the girl was left unattended and to explore any possible prior interventions. Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch expressed the need for answers regarding the circumstances of the girl living in such conditions.
