UpdatesWoman Charged with Murder in Manchester House Fire

A murder charge has been filed against a woman in relation to the tragic death of a four-year-old girl in a house fire. Carrin Wibier, aged 45 and residing in Gateshead Close, Manchester, has been accused of murder and arson with intent to endanger life following the passing of young Lesma-Rose Wibier in Rusholme, Manchester, back in March. Wibier is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on January 7.

According to a spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police, the charge pertains to the incident that led to the death of little Lesma-Rose at a residence on Gateshead Close on March 2, 2025. Lesma-Rose was rescued from the fire and transported to a hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.

Since March 3, Wibier has been detained under the Mental Health Act, as reported by the Manchester Evening News. Following the devastating loss, the family of the young girl expressed their heartfelt tribute, describing Lesma-Rose as a bright and beautiful soul who brought joy to everyone she encountered.

Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Whalley extended her condolences to the family and friends of the victim, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of emergency services during the distressing incident. Whalley assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community and no additional suspects are being pursued in connection to the case. The authorities are fully committed to investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire to uncover the truth behind the tragic event.
