“River Island Recalls Handbag Over Lead Hazard”

Business"River Island Recalls Handbag Over Lead Hazard"

River Island has issued a product recall for one of its items due to a potential chemical hazard for consumers. The Pink Floral Heat Seal Droplet Bucket Handbag has been withdrawn from sale after tests revealed high levels of lead in the gold chain, which can be harmful to health.

Exposure to lead can result in kidney and circulatory system damage, posing a significant risk, especially to pregnant individuals. Identified with the item code 927917, the retailer has taken action to ensure customer safety and product quality. River Island emphasized that the lead levels exceed safety standards, prompting the recall.

Although the risk of harm is considered low, River Island urged customers to stop using the handbag immediately and return it for a full refund. The company apologized for any inconvenience caused and prioritized customer safety by implementing the recall as a precautionary measure.

To return the affected product, customers can do so in-store or online by sending it to River Island Customer Service Parcels Freepost, MK17 8EW. Questions can be directed to customer.services@river-island.com or by calling 03445 766 444.

For information on other product recalls, consumers can refer to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Chartered Trading Standards (CTS) Institute websites. Notably, Tesco has recalled its Celery Fruit and Nut Salad for undeclared mustard, while Kendamil infant milk and Amazon’s Petiyark Neoprene Swim Vest have also been subject to recent recalls.
