“Delta Jets Collide at LaGuardia Airport, Wing Torn Off”

National"Delta Jets Collide at LaGuardia Airport, Wing Torn Off"

Two Delta aircraft collided at a major international airport, resulting in one plane’s wing being torn off and causing injuries to at least one person. The incident occurred at New York’s LaGuardia Airport when two CRJ-900 regional jets, operated by Delta’s Endeavor Air subsidiary, clipped each other while taxiing at low speed. The wing of a plane preparing for takeoff to Roanoke, Virginia, struck the fuselage of a plane arriving from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Witnesses described the aftermath with one aircraft’s wing severely damaged, the other’s nose visibly dented, and passengers and crew members stranded on the tarmac as emergency vehicles responded to the scene. A passenger recounted the terrifying experience, stating that their plane was severely impacted by the collision, causing a chaotic and jarring moment for everyone on board.

An injured flight attendant was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, as confirmed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Fortunately, there were no reports of passenger injuries, according to the airline. Delta assured that the airport’s operations were not expected to be disrupted and pledged to cooperate with authorities to investigate the incident for the safety of all involved.

In a separate incident, an easyJet aircraft narrowly avoided a collision with another airliner at Nice Côte d’Azur airport in France. Passengers on the easyJet plane witnessed the incoming Nouvelair jet applying full power to evade a potential crash as it attempted to land on the incorrect runway. The near-miss incident, which occurred during heavy rain at France’s third busiest airport, prompted an immediate investigation by the French transport minister to prevent future occurrences.
