British Tourist Pepper Sprayed by Bouncer in Benidorm Bar

InternationalBritish Tourist Pepper Sprayed by Bouncer in Benidorm Bar

A British tourist alleges that he was sprayed with pepper spray by a bouncer after filming his friend dancing at a bar in a popular vacation spot. Joe Snowball traveled to Benidorm on September 8 to create content with two friends for a video about the resort. On their final night, while drinking, they were approached by a man who ushered them to another bar.

While recording his friend dancing, Joe was asked by a waitress to delete the video from his phone. When Joe insisted on deleting it himself, a bouncer purportedly sprayed him and his friend with pepper spray. Video footage shows the men sitting outside the bar with irritated eyes, receiving milk poured over their heads to ease the burning sensation. Joe suffered stinging in his face and eyes, taking two days to recover, while his friend had to seek medical attention back in the UK.

Despite attempting to report the incident to the police in Benidorm, Joe claims they disregarded him and drove off. He expressed disappointment, stating, “We had a successful filming session and wanted to celebrate, but we had consumed excess alcohol.”

Joe recounted how they were led to the bar by a man promising free drinks and entry. However, filming was prohibited in the establishment, leading to the altercation. Joe described being temporarily blinded by the pepper spray, enduring intense pain and discomfort. The following day, he experienced sensitivity to light but eventually recovered within two days.

Reflecting on the incident, Joe emphasized the challenges faced, including the lack of response from local authorities. He highlighted the need for caution in nightlife settings and expressed skepticism towards the establishment in question.

The bar in question could not be located online, with Joe discovering it boarded up the next day. He shared his experience of Benidorm, labeling it as the worst European holiday destination. Joe admitted to a loss of trust in nightlife personnel and vowed to be more vigilant in future outings.

The Spanish Guardia (police) has been contacted for comments on the matter.
