During his visit to Ireland, Trump engaged in discussions with President Catherine Connolly and Prime Minister Micheál Martin before attending the Irish Open tournament at his golf course. The debate surrounding AI has intensified in the U.S. following warnings from researchers at Anthropic regarding the potential risks associated with the rapid development of AI technology.
In his second term, Trump’s administration has shown support for AI companies, with leaders in the sector backing his initiatives. Notably, AI executives have contributed significantly to the midterm election campaigns, with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s political action committee, America PAC, playing a substantial role in supporting Republican candidates.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei proposed a framework to regulate the pace of AI development, which received endorsements from various industry executives, including Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Despite the warnings from researchers, some AI CEOs are advocating for a more cautious approach to advancing AI technology.
