Woman Survives Spanish Train Crash by Changing Carriages

InternationalWoman Survives Spanish Train Crash by Changing Carriages

A woman narrowly escaped the tragic Spanish train crash by changing carriages when she couldn’t use the restroom in one carriage and moved to another. Walking from the eighth to the fifth carriage proved to be a life-saving decision, as everyone in the fifth carriage survived while many perished in the eighth carriage.

The incident, which claimed the lives of at least 39 individuals, remains shrouded in mystery as investigators work to determine the cause of the collision. Despite both trains traveling within the speed limit and recent track renovations, the collision was described by Spain’s Transport Minister as a “truly strange” occurrence.

Argentinian passenger Lucas Merakio recounted the harrowing experience of being in the fifth carriage of the Madrid-bound Iryo train that collided with another train heading to Huelva. He shared stories of passengers, including a young girl searching for her parents and foreigners onboard struggling to comprehend the situation.

Describing the chaos onboard, Lucas detailed the intense vibrations, derailing, and darkness that ensued after the collision. He narrated the efforts of passengers to assist those in need, showcasing acts of kindness and solidarity until emergency services arrived.

The aftermath at Adamuz Station saw a wave of injured individuals seeking medical help, with scenes of broken bones and deep cuts. As the medics worked tirelessly, the grim reality of casualties in the overturned eighth carriage became known, leaving a young girl orphaned and adding to the tragedy of the event.
