“Brother Confesses to Murdering Pregnant Sister”

National"Brother Confesses to Murdering Pregnant Sister"

A 24-year-old man has admitted to the brutal murder of his pregnant sister and her unborn child, shedding light on his disturbing motive through diary entries.

Jack Ball confessed to the killing of 30-year-old Bethany Ann Israel and her unborn baby, followed by the dismemberment of Bethany’s body and the scattering of her remains.

The tragic incident unfolded when the siblings’ mother contacted the police on May 23, 2024, suspecting her daughter had been harmed at her son’s residence. Bethany, who was 17 to 18 weeks pregnant, was tragically a victim of the crime.

Family members raised concerns when Bethany failed to contact them after dining with her brother. Upon visiting the brother’s home, the mother witnessed Ball leaving the house in a hurry, leading to the discovery of a significant amount of blood and the subsequent police involvement.

Law enforcement officers responding to the scene in Minnesota found blood traces and various bloody tools in the kitchen. Further investigation inside the house revealed dismembered body parts and a knife near the staircase. Subsequently, a resident reported observing a man leaving a body part on their doorstep via security camera footage, leading to Ball’s discovery with a self-inflicted neck injury in a nearby backyard.

Ball’s handwritten journals were found, indicating his motive for the heinous act, citing anger towards his pregnant sister for losing her innocence.

Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena expressed deep concern over the case, emphasizing the need for justice for the victims and extended support for the family.

Bethany’s loved ones paid tribute to her as a beloved wife, daughter, and sister in a heartfelt GoFundMe campaign, highlighting her kindness and positive impact on those around her.

Ball, who has cited mental illness as a defense, faces charges of premeditated first-degree murder and intentional second-degree murder. Following a guilty plea on selected charges, a life sentence is being recommended as part of the plea agreement by prosecutors.

The Minnesota law allows defendants to claim mental illness as a defense, which will be further litigated on May 21 in court. If convicted, Ball could face a mandatory life sentence in prison.
